Every of their coffee outposts is designed to be simple and without frills, with all focus placed only on the product – coffee.

This is where they strive to make consistently good coffee approachable and accessible to all.

We are a coffee-driven company run by coffee people.

  • What is the name of your business and when was it incorporated?

The name of our business is called Alchemist. It was incorporated in May 2016.

  • Where is it currently operating?

Alchemist have three outlets – one in International Plaza at Tanjong Pagar, one in Hong Leong Finance Building at Raffles Place, one in Khong Guan Building at Tai Seng. The outlets at Tanjong Pagar and Raffles Place operate from 8AM to 5PM from Monday to Friday (except for PH). The Tai Seng flagship store operates from 8AM to 5PM on Monday to Friday, and 9AM to 6PM on Saturday.

  • Who are your target audience? (Please specify)

Our target audience is mainly white-collared workers working within the Tanjong Pagar and Raffles Place business districts. They are usually in a rush and prefer to take their coffee back to their workplace. Most of them are regulars who enjoy the taste of our coffee and the friendliness of our committed team.

For our Tai Seng outlet, we do not just target the office employees, but also the niche coffee lovers who enjoy our beans that are all roasted in-house.

  • List your products and services, and price range.

Starting out as a coffee joint, we do not have an extensive offering. This is because our whole ideal for Alchemist is to keep things simple; let the coffee do the talking. As we roast all of our coffee beans in our roastery at the Tai Seng flagship store, we can adjust the flavours and parameters to our preference while keeping our valued customers in mind.

Our menu is very simple – across all three outlets, we serve white (coffee with milk), black (coffee with hot water), espresso shots, chocolate (either hot or iced), and pourover coffee. For our Tanjong Pagar and Raffles Place outlets, we also have daily brews prepared fresh for our customers. For our Tai Seng flagship store, we have pastries from “Bread And Hearth” if our dine-in customers feel like pairing our coffee with some light bites.

Our price range for all our items is from S$3 to $7.

We also have retail sections across all three outlets, showcasing specialty coffee equipment that can be used for everyday purposes as well, and of course, our own roasted beans for sale.

  • How do customers find you? Links to your website and social media pages?

A good number of our customers in our Tanjong Pagar outlet is our regular customers, who have been coming in everyday. We believe most of them love the taste of our coffee and the friendliness of our staff. Because of our small size, it prevents our staff from being distracted by other tasks and can even remember our regular customers’ orders without them having to communicate directly (even their names as well)!

We can be found on Facebook and Instagram (with the handle @alchemist.sg). We also have our own website at http://www.alchemist.com.sg/. However, more updates can be seen on our social media pages.

  • What makes you different from your competitors?

When we first started in the CBD area, we noticed that most coffee joints are in it just for the money and profits. Most of them became commercialised in order to match up with the huge demand within that area and ended up reducing on quality. We don’t believe in that and only wants to provide a value that is way more than what our customers expect. Our espresso beans are calibrated daily before every day begins, so that the right taste profiles are prominent, ensuring that our customers will never get a bad cup of coffee. This consistency in our quality control has proven to work, with first-time customers slowly starting their daily ritual with us, becoming our long-term regulars.

Simply said, rather than just another drink, we made our coffee into a “drug” so addictive that they can’t go through their day without it. That consistency and familiarity (the “sticking to your roots” motto) have made our place their regular haunt for espresso fuel.

  • Any promotions for the next few months that readers can tap on?

Our third anniversary will be happening on the 28th of May 2019. This year, we want to dedicate our anniversary to all the regulars who have been sticking with us throughout the three years and thank them with a special surprise. A new set of premium beans will be launched, as well as a promotion that will be very attractive (trust me)!

  • Anything to add on?
